Yuzu Mint Cocktail

Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit that is both tart and acidic, but also very floral, which puts it somewhere between a very tart lemon and a lemon blossom. Just a small amount of yuzu juice is very potent and it can really change the flavor profile of a drink that would ordinarily use only lemon juice. It is likely that you’ll find the juice in specialty stores or the whole fruit in Asian markets, so keep an eye out for it.

Method: Muddle, Shake

Ingredients
2 oz. Japanese Whiskey*
1 oz. Simple Syrup
1 oz Fresh Yuzu Juice
7-8 Mint Leaves

Muddle the mint leaves and the simple syrup in a mixing glass. Add the yuzu juice, whiskey, and ice. Shake and strain into a glass filled with crushed ice. Top off with more crushed ice and garnish with a sprig of mint.

*Japanese whiskey is my top choice for this cocktail, but any other whiskey will work.
