A movement has sprung up recently where “prohibition cocktails” are…
Whiskey Wedge
I tend to drink whiskey neat, though I’ve been known to have an ice cube or two in mine on warm evening. I like chilled whiskey/bourbon/scotch because it has a slightly mellower flavor than neat whiskey does and that makes for a more refreshing drink when I’m in the mood for one. The problem with ice, as everyone knows, is that too much ice is going to water your drink down and dilute those subtle flavors. The Whiskey Wedge is a funky gift for whiskey lovers that aims to solve this problem. The wedge is a silicone piece that fits into a (included) glass to form a perfect wedge of ice stretching from the bottom to the rim. The shape and size of the ice wedge give you good ice contact, for a quick chilling time, and help minimize dilution.
You could achieve a similar effect by filling your glasses with water and storing them at an angle in your freezer, but you’ll go through a few packs of frozen peas trying to support them in just the right way before you get it perfect. This option looks slick and is much, much easier to enjoy.
