It’s never too early to start thinking about the holiday…
Splurge on a $1000 Mint Julep at the Derby
If you want to really splurge at the Kentucky Derby, you can do it by either purchasing your own racehorse or buy buying Woodford Reserve’s $1000 mint julep to sip while you watch others’ horses run. The ingredients of the drink itself aren’t worth $1000 – that would be a lot of bourbon and mint! The pricetag here is justified by the packaging. It is served in a sterling silver cup that has been hand-engraved with the date of the Derby and the horse-and-rider image that appears on the real Kentucky Derby trophy. A golden rose garland rounds out the base of the cup, and it comes with a gold-plated straw. As if that weren’t enough, the cup comes in a silk-lined box and made from the American oak that is used in Woodford Reserve’s bourbon barrels.
Proceeds from the sale of these over-the-top drinks go to a great and very fitting cause:Old Friends, a facility that cares for racehorses once they’ve retired from the track. So far more than 75 of the drinks have been sold (pre-ordered online) and the numbers are sure to go up by race day – after all, if you can pick the winners at the track, you can definitely splurge on a fancy drink.
