Pour Some Pumpkin Spice Whiskey for Fall

Sons of Liberty Pumpkin Spice Whiskey

During the fall, pumpkin spice is everywhere. In addition to actual pumpkin pie and other pumpkin baked goods, there are a variety of pumpkin beverages, including the ever-popular Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks and pumpkin beer from dozens of different producers. Pumpkin spice fans can now add Pumpkin Spice Whiskey to their list of seasonal drinks to enjoy this time of year. Sons of Liberty Spirits in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, just released their seasonal Pumpkin Spice Whiskey. The whiskey is made by blending the juice from 30,000 lbs of roasted, locally grown, hand-picked pumpkins with single malt American whiskey. The finished spirit has notes of clove, allspice, vanilla and orange, along with aromatic pumpkin and – of course – whiskey. It took home an award for the “World’s Best Flavored Whiskey” at Whisky Magazine’s 2014 World Whiskies Awards in London, becoming the first US craft distillery to take home any award at the ceremony. The whiskey, unfortunately for those of us on the West coast, is a limited release that will primarily be found on liquor store shelves throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts in the upcoming weeks.
