A greyhound is a simple cocktail made with vodka and…
I am a big fan of maple syrup and am always looking for opportunities to introduce it to my cocktails. This Maple Old Fashioned is a slightly sweet twist on a traditional old fashioned, with just enough maple syrup to give it some richness and make it a little bit more complex. It might just be my imagination, but it pairs even better with Canadian whiskey. One reason I would recommend using a Canadian whiskey when you make this drink, since Canada produces roughly 80% of the world’s maple syrup and so it seems fitting to combine the two products. More importantly, however Canadian whiskeys tend to be a little lighter and gain some extra body when they’re paired with maple syrup. Even if you don’t have a bottle of Crown Royal around, use your favorite whiskey and a high quality maple syrup for a delicious classic with a twist.
