Early Times Mint Julep Named Official Drink of Kentucky Derby

Early Times Mint JulepThe Early Times Mint Julep has served as the official drink of the Kentucky Derby for more than 25 years, and they are filling that role again this year for the 139th Kentucky Derby, which will be held this weekend at Churchill Downs. The Early Times drink is premixed and is bottled – taking the need to do-it-yourself out of making cocktails for the derby – and it is served both at the racetrack and at stores outside of Churchill Downs for race fans who can’t make it to the track. The a limited release of the julep mix has been put out this year, packaged commemorative bottles featuring artwork from equine artist Celeste Susany, whose paintings have graced the Early Times bottles for years, and is titled “The Derby Dance.”┬áThe bottle is popular with race fans and collectors, and the 30% ABV mix is a good, easy way to get the celebration started.
