The Brandy Alexander is a well known retro cocktail, but what many people don’t know is that it is a brandy version of a gin cocktail that is known simply as an Alexander. The Alexander cocktail was first published in 1915, when gin was one of the most popular spirits around. The brandy version caught on because it was a little sweeter, but the creaminess of the original makes this rich enough that gin fans might want to try this one for dessert instead.
1 oz. Gin
1 oz. Creme De Cacao
1 oz. Cream
Pour ingredients into an ice filled shaker. Shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a sprinkle of nutmeg.
